Frozen Attractions Coming to Tokyo Disney Sea

Tokyo Disneyland Expansion

Coming by way of Theme Park Insider is more information on the expansion heading to Tokyo Disney Sea and Disneyland.

I find most interesting that Disney is adding an entire themed port devoted just to Frozen. Writer Robert Niles speculates that:

Although Tokyo Disney is promising original attractions and restaurants in these new developments, there are some similarities to existing and upcoming Disney theme park attractions elsewhere. Walt Disney World is currently converting the old “Maelstrom” ridein the Norway pavilion at Epcot into a Frozen-themed ride. The concept art for Tokyo’s Nordic port evokes some of the details found in Epcot’s Norway pavilion, including the Stave Church that can be seen at the bottom of the image.

There are some elements that are similar to Norway’s pavilion, but I don’t think we will be seeing the creation of Anna and Elsa’s castle in Epcot or the addition of Elsa’s Ice Palace that can be seen in top right portion of the concept art. This looks pretty great so far.

Head on over to Theme Park insider to see more concept art of the expansions areas coming to Tokyo Disneyland’s Fantasyland.

Mickey’s on Your Wrist, But in a Whole New Way

Apple Watch Mickey Mouse

The Mickey Mouse watch has been around for a long time. As a Disney fan, I am never without wearing the Mouse on my wrist so I can always have a little bit of Disney with me.

However, there is nothing like the animated Mickey Mouse face on the new Apple Watch. Mine arrived yesterday and honestly the image above does not do it justice. The screen is so vivid and Mickey’s animation is so fluid its simply spell-binding.

The watch itself is an amazing piece of tech and I love it so far. The set up was easy although the UI does take a little bit of practice. I purchased the stainless steel with the milanese loop band and it feels really great on my wrist and its a snug fit.

If you’re a Disney fan, head into your local Apple Store and check out the Mickey Mouse watch face for yourself.

Jambo! Enjoy Pictures of Disney’s Animal Kingdom from 1998

One of Disney’s most inspired parks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, opened on this date in 1998.

Some knock the park, but it is honestly one of my favorites. I was lucky to visit for the first time less than a month after its opening and I thought I would share some pictures from the park in its infancy.

I hope you enjoy!

Fight the Future: New Tomorrowland Trailer

Just as new posters advertising Disney’s Tomorrowland film are released do we now get a new trailer too. This one pushes aside all the Walt Disney nostalgia and instead focuses on all the action.

Perhaps someone at Disney felt a film merely toting a quest to reach a happy, Epcot-like city of tomorrow wasn’t selling with audiences? Who knows. But this trailer definitely has a different tone that the others did not.

Check out the Weird, New Tomorrowland Posters

New posters for Disney’s Tomorrowland have surfaced and they are just kinda weird.

I know studios want to showcase a film’s stars, but it seems odd to have the futuristic city of Tomorrowland photoshopped over them with their skulls seemingly pierced by a futuristic skyscraper. Anyone else think the same thing?

Also, why is George Clooney wearing sun glasses? Its kinda hard to tell its him.

In any case, at least there’s the great trailer to enjoy.

Tron 3 to Follow Quorra in the Real World? Lets stick to The Grid.

It looks like we might be headed back to The Grid…except maybe we won’t.

Audiences were last able to explore the world of Tron several years ago with Tron: Legacy. I felt the film was pretty strong overall, and I was eager for a follow up. However, I don’t think the box office earnings were as good as Disney was hoping for which put the prospects of another film in doubt.

Well, it looks as if Disney is indeed working on a third film. Olivia Wilde who played Quorra suggested as much recently. To me that is great news! The bad news though is that the film evidently will follow Quorra’s journey into the real world. That is extraordinarily bad.

What sets Tron apart is its look and the environment: The Light Cycles, the glowing costumes, being inside a computer. There is still so much that can be explored that just following Quorra in the “real world” appears on the face of it to be really lame.

The Tron 2.0  PC video game showed what is possible with a film based around the world of Tron. In the game, players had to fight viruses, explored the internet, and quickly navigate through a hand-held device. I think it would be very interesting to have the film explore these same situations, but perhaps that is just me?

Do you want Disney to create another film based on Tron?

Geek-Gasm: Star Wars Force Awakens Trailer 2

A lot was revealed today at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim today, but the best was the debut of the second trailer which features some of the original cast.

A total geek-gasm indeed!
