The Top 6 Disney Songs About Summer!

Its Summer! Well, maybe not officially, but its close enough.

Today, I am going to highlight my top six Disney summer songs. These are songs that are from throughout the Disney “universe,” so not just the animated films, but also some from the theme parks too.

6. In Summer, Frozen

Of course, this song may be better to listen to in winter when you are dreaming of those summer days, but why not enjoy what Olaf is crooning about immediately?

5. After Today, A Goofy Movie

The greatest song about the last day of school.

4. California Screamin’ Disney California Adventure

I love the carnival sounds that make up the on-ride audio on this awesome coaster. It immediately reminds me of summer, the boardwalk, and being at Disney!

3. Space Mountain, Disneyland

Okay, this one goes back a little. But Disneyland’s Space Mountain was the first coaster to have synchronized on-ride music. The Imagineers worked with guitarist Dick Dale to play his famous surf guitar riffs for the audio. Yea, its kinda a mix of space and summer, but it works for me.

2. Hawaiian Roller Coast Ride, Lilo and Stitch

Following up on the Dick Dale surfer riffs is this great tune from Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. I love the original songs from this film that incorporated more traditional Hawaiian sounds.

1. Under the Sea, The Little Mermaid

You could argue that a few of the songs on this soundtrack have summer sounds, but Under the Sea is the best of the bunch.

So, what do you think? Did I miss any songs that you would include?

Disney Tunes Tuesday: In a Magical Mood

Strike Up The Band

Yesterday I wrote about the Disney Bliss that many Disney fans experience while visiting a Disney Park. I try to hold onto it as long as possible following a trip and I often find listening to Disney music can help.

I thought I would share some of the tunes that I listen to when I want to get into a Disney Mood. I will try to avoid many of the obvious choices. For example, what Disney fan could not love When You Wish Upon a Star? However, that song is to be expected.

So, beyond the obvious choices (and in no particular order) here is my short list of my favorite Disney songs to get into a magical mood.

Busa, Rhythm of the Pride Lands

If you love the Lion King, especially the music, but don’t have this album then you are missing out. This album was originally released a year or so after the Lion King and the songs build on many of the musical themes that were found in the movie. Some of these were eventually woven into the Lion King Broadway show.

That’s How You Know, Enchanted Soundtrack

Wouldn’t it be awesome to be part of an impromptu street musical performance where everyone suddenly knows the lyrics? I think it would and this song captures that experience.

Life’s a Happy Song, The Muppets

For some reason, life just seems a lot better after listening to this song. Don’t you agree?

Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride, Lilo and Stitch

One of the more joyful moments from the movie.

Hi-Diddlee-Dee-Dee (An Actor’s Life for Me), Pinocchio

A great classic that is probably overshadowed by When You Wish Upon a Star.

Always Know Where You Are, Treasure Planet

This film is underrated and so is this tune.

Just Around the River Bend, Pocahontas

One of the best songs from the movie.

Gummi Bears Theme Song, The Gummi Bears

Back when television cartoons had uplifting theme songs, love it!

On My Way, Brother Bear

Another joyful song from a movie that didn’t get the attention it deserved.

You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! Peter Pan

Yes, I know I said I would avoid some of the typical Disney songs, but I just had to include this one. Who doesn’t wish they can be sprinkled with some pixie dust and fly around the neighborhood?!?!

There are many others that I would include, but I will stop here.

So, what songs would you include in your list of Disney music that helps you get into a magical mood?
